Our History

International Battery Center (IBC) traces its roots back to the Polymer Ionic Research Group (PIRG) since 2007, officially establishing itself as a company in 2022. Our mission is to serve as a comprehensive hub for smart collaborations, fostering local and international partnerships among government linked companies (GLCs), industrial companies and universities. Our primary focus is to accelerate the advancement of energy storage, particularly in Li-ion battery development, catering to the needs of device applications and electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia.

The International Symposium on Polymer Electrolytes (ISPE-18) Conference is organized by the American Chemical Society (ACS) Malaysian Chapter and co-organized by NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB), co-joint with Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi (LADA). We would like to invite you to participate in the 18th ISPE 2024. This conference aims to move towards zero carbon emission by revolutionizing energy with polymer electrolytes. The event strives to bring opportunities & exchange of knowledge amongst mid-level professionals in the field of energy storage and its application technology and nourish relationships among industry players to build a worldwide community for future collaboration. In addition, ISPE-18 also will provide a platform to develop world-class scientist and towards 'Saintis MADANI' where it fulfills the three basic pillars of MADANI which are sustainability, well-being and creativity. 21st July 2022

Hydrogen-Electric Vehicle-Battery (HEBATT) by NanoMalaysia Berhad had a soft launch this morning at Incubator 3, Technology Park Malaysia. The soft launch was officiated by Prof. Emeritus Dato' Ir. Dr. Mohamad Zawawi bin Ismail, chairman of NanoMalaysia Berhad. HEBATT is a local pilot plant to produce Pouch Cell Graphene-based composite batteries for electric vehicle (EV) applications. Pouch cell batteries are an alternative to cylindrical batteries, which are lighter and can store high power and energy density. This project is in partnership with HyperTech Industries Sdn. Bhd. and International Battery Center (IBC) Sdn. Bhd.

20 September 2022

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Dato' Sri Dr. Adham bin Baba inaugurated the Hydrogen-Electric Vehicle-Battery Center or HEBATT which is a local battery innovation center that will produce nanotechnology pocket cell batteries for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications at Incubator 3, Technology Park Malaysia. HEBATT is a collaboration between the investment recipient of NanoMalaysia Group, HyPERTech Industries Sdn. BHD. which is a one-stop consultation center for loal and international innovative collaborstion between industry, universities and government agencies. The center will be a focus in the construction and development of local expertise in battery manufacturing and its application for related industrial sectors. It will focus on the development of the new battery chemistries and the production of advanced batteries in various hydrogen-based factors, forms and storage.

We, a group consists of researchers from UPNM and International Battery Center (IBC) has received a GOLD Inventor Award for ITEX2023. The project entitled “Sodium-Ion Battery (SOBATT) Forthcoming Rechargeable Batteries” highlights the utilization of inexpensive and sustainable sodium-based materials for both electrolyte and cathode.
